The Atlanta Airport was looking for a cellular coverage system that would be compatible with the upcoming JMA 5G DAS upgrade at the Airport.
Symphony designed and installed a converged public safety/cellular seven-band, software-defined, 5G upgradable JMA DAS system, which is software upgradable to nine bands. This system utilizes advanced software-defined features to allow for system expandability to 4G+ and 5G without “ripping and replacing” any hardware.
Despite equipment delays and other installation issues caused by COVID-19, Symphony delivered an installed system along with verification testing results within the agreed-upon time parameters to the Airport. We were contracted in February 2020 and reached substantial completion by June 2020. We are currently coordinating with the carriers to provide signal injection for the system. Symphony will be continuing in a consultant role with the Airport to provide support and enable system expansion of capacity as Airport traffic begins to increase again.
